Helping Local Government Units (LGU’s) with Disaster Management (Ref: BM-108)

Our climate is changing, creating unprecedented weather patterns that are intense and unexpected. It is increasingly becoming important for Local Government Units (LGU’s) to plan for disasters.  More recent events like “ONDOY” and “YOLANDA” have highlighted the importance of the ability of First Responders to react to disasters.

The Philippine government created the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) to help LGUs manage risk by establishing their own local Risk Councils.  NDRRMC offers LGU’s training and data to support their efforts.

The Business Mapper Product Team will be launching Municipal and Barangay bundles in February 2014 to help our LGUs implement DRMMC programs.

Specifically to help LGUs identify the following:

  •          Disaster Prone Areas
  •          Appropriate Evacuation Centers and Capacities
  •          Bases of operations
  •          Coordinating Centers
  •          Resource/Responder Placements in Emergencies
  •          Storage Facilities
  •          Database of historical events

The all-in-one bundles includes:

  •          All-in-one Touch Screen Computers
  •          Android Field Survey Smart Phones for GPS based data collection
  •          User Manuals
